ASHVILLE, Ohio — A new one-way traffic pattern will remain in place on Park Street for as long as two years while the village builds a new water treatment plant, according to the Village of Ashville.
Park Street between East Station Street and the alley connecting to Gary Street remains closed to all traffic, the village said in a social media post. South of that closure, Park Street between the alley and Plum Street is now one way, with traffic required to travel south. The alley itself, known as the Park Street/Gary Street Alley Way, is one way heading west toward Park Street.
Village officials said the restrictions are expected to remain in effect for 18 to 24 months, or until construction on the water treatment plant is finished.
Residents and businesses at 68 to 110 Park St. will need to use Maple Street or Gary Street to reach the alley, then travel west to Park Street to access their properties, according to the village.
The closure grew out of work that began in August, when the village said Park Street would shut down as a contractor started moving equipment onto the construction site for the new plant. Village officials asked drivers to watch for posted signs, use caution near the work zone and allow extra travel time while the project continues.
