HAMDEN, Ohio — A 60-year-old Pomeroy man was critically injured Friday afternoon when he was struck by a car while walking onto State Route 93 in the Village of Hamden, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash happened at about 3:23 p.m. Friday when Samuel Rayburn walked onto State Route 93 and was hit by a northbound 2017 Chevrolet Impala driven by Marilynn Boyer, 80, of Hamden, the patrol said.
Rayburn was taken by Vinton County EMS to Holzer Medical Center in Jackson before being transferred to Grant Medical Center in Columbus for serious injuries, according to the patrol. Boyer was not injured.
Troopers from the patrol’s Jackson post were assisted at the scene by Vinton County EMS, the Hamden Fire Department, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the Vinton County Sheriff’s Office, the patrol said. The crash remains under investigation.
