CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Ross County Historical Society will open the historic Franklin House to visitors for a free “Card Party” on Sunday, Sept. 13, from 2 to 6 p.m., the society said.
The event will be held at the Franklin House, 80 S. Paint St., and admission is free. Visitors can tour the home at their own pace and speak with historical society staff and volunteers about the Franklin family and the house’s history, according to the release.
Guests will also be able to play card games that were popular in the early 20th century, including euchre, giving visitors a taste of everyday life from that era, the society said.
The card party is part of Ohio Open Doors, a statewide celebration of Ohio’s historic places organized through the Ohio History Connection. The Ross County Historical Society said the event is meant to encourage both longtime residents and first-time visitors to explore local history.
