Shelley K. Ricketts, 82, of Chillicothe, passed at 10:22 p.m. Sunday, September 6, 2026 at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born October 17, 1943, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to the late Richard E. and Ruth Ann Stover Smith. On April 24, 1984, she married Butch Ricketts who survives.
Also surviving are daughters, Vicki (Tom) Pierce, Sherri Ault, and Tammy Ault; grandchildren, Amy (Josh) Hatfield, Keith Alan Scaggs II, Nathan E. Scaggs, all of Chillicothe and Joshua (Kaitlyn) McFadden, of Lucasville; great grandchildren, Reese Hatfield, Tres Scaggs, Avery Ann Scaggs, Braxton M. Scaggs, Jersey Scaggs, Ace Ervin, Chloe McFadden and Cade McFadden; a step daughter, Chasity Ricketts, of Indiana; step grandchildren, Taryn Ricketts and Adrienn Ricketts; 3 nieces; a nephew; and a sister-in-law, Judy Lyons, of Chillicothe.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a grandson, Patrick McFadden and a brother, Dick Smith.
Shelley was a 1961 graduate of Chillicothe High School. She was a member of American Legion Post 62 and the D.A.R. and was a life member of AMVETS Post 4. Shelley worked as an Insurance Agent and Bartender. She loved Elvis Presley and will always be remembered for her kind, caring and compassionate personality. She will be dearly missed by her family, many friends, her two kitties, Little Bit and Missy and her granddogs.
The family would like to extend a special “thank you” to the staff of NCR Hospice, especially her nurse, Lindsey and her aid, Lindy, for the exceptional care given to Shelley and compassion shown to our family during this difficult time.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2026 in the WARE FUENRAL HOME with Pastor James Vandagriff officiating. Family and friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 11 to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to NCR Hospice 681 E. Third Street Waverly, OH 45690 or a blood donation to the American Red Cross.
Immediately following the funeral service, there will be a gathering at New System Bakery – 125 Western Avenue – Chillicothe, Ohio 45601.
