Anna Lee Wells, 90, of South Shore, KY, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2026, at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. She was born March 19, 1936, in Greenup County, Kentucky, to the late Zachary and Clara Bell (Boyles) Marshall, and lived a life marked by devotion to her family, steady faith, and the simple pleasures that bring warmth to a home.
She was a homemaker and also worked for Smith Drugs, balancing the work of caring for others both inside and outside the home. A longtime member of First Christian Church, Anna carried her faith with quiet constancy through the years. She also enjoyed cheering on her favorite teams and was a devoted fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes football, UK Basketball, and the Valley Indians, following them with enthusiasm that family and friends surely knew well.
On September 3, 1955, she married Ronald Wells, and together they built a family and shared the years until his death on February 5, 1989. She was also preceded in death by her son, Stephen Wells, and her siblings, Avalyne Marshall, Nellie Fay Alexander, Virginia Hieneman, Marilyn Bergman, John Marshall, Ralph Marshall, Earl Marshall, the twins, Linda Lou and Freda Sue Marshall.
Anna’s memory will be cherished by those who remain to carry her love forward. She is survived by her daughter, Beth (Brian) Baker of Lucasville; six grandchildren, Brandi (Adam) Evans of Lucasville, Kyle (Tristan) Hickerson of Minford, Dakota Baker (Sophia Weaver) of St. Petersburg, Florida; Lindsay Jordan Wells, Kendall Nicole Wells, Matthew Ronald Wells all of Friendswood, Texas; six great-grandchildren: Sawyer Evans, Thatcher Evans, Raylan Hickerson, Waylon Hickerson, Bennett Michael Wells-Tarver, Maverick Jay Wells-Medel; one sister, Dottie Evans of Cumberland, Maryland; her brother, Cecil Marshall of South Shore; a special nieces, Patty Wooten, and many other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2026 at First Christian Church, 28199 US 23, South Shore, KY 41175 with Brett Unger officiating. Burial will follow at Collier Memorial Gardens in South Shore, KY. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday prior to the service at the church.
