WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — Washington Court House City Council adopted agreements at its May 27 meeting to repave a state highway route through the city and to switch the city’s streetlights to a full-service contract with a private company.
Council adopted Resolution No. R17-2026, authorizing City Manager Joe Denen to enter a cooperative agreement with the Ohio Department of Transportation, identified as PID 119204, for the urban paving of U.S. Route 22 and U.S. Route 62 within the city, according to meeting minutes.
Council also adopted Resolution No. R18-2026, authorizing Denen to enter a full-service street lighting agreement with Miami Valley Lighting LLC, the minutes said.
Separately, council advanced Ordinance No. 10-2026, which would amend the city’s licensing requirements and fees for door-to-door sales and solicitation, to a second reading. Councilman Jim Blair cast the lone “nay” vote, citing concerns about the ordinance’s stipulations. A resident on Farmington Lane had told council she was concerned about door-to-door solicitation, and council members noted the proposed ordinance was meant to address those complaints.
Council also passed, on third reading, Ordinance No. 8-2026, amending city code on low-speed micromobility devices, and Ordinance No. 9-2026, amending regulations on electric bicycles.
The meeting also included a lengthy executive session, and a tense exchange during the public comment period after a resident tried to raise questions about ongoing litigation involving the city, which City Attorney Mark Pitstick said could not be discussed.
