MOWRYSTOWN, Ohio — Bright Local Schools earned an overall four-star rating on the final 2025-2026 Ohio State Report Card, with the district posting five-star marks in graduation rate and in preparing students for college, careers and the military.
Superintendent Jason Iles announced the results to the district community, saying the ratings reflect work happening in classrooms across the district’s schools in Mowrystown.
The state report card, issued annually by the Ohio Department of Education, grades districts on a one- to five-star scale across several components. Bright Local’s overall rating was four stars, matching four-star marks in the achievement, gap-closing and early literacy components. The district’s graduation rate and its college, career, workforce and military readiness scores each earned five stars, according to the district.
Iles said the results tie into progress the district has tracked against its strategic plan, pointing to new curriculum resources, literacy initiatives, workforce development programs and facility upgrades including a new health and counseling center that opened at the district in August.
“There is still important work ahead, and we will continue using our data to identify opportunities for growth and improvement,” Iles said in a statement.
Iles thanked teachers, administrators, support staff, bus drivers, paraprofessionals, food service employees, custodians and counselors, along with families and the broader community, for supporting the district’s students.
