GREENFIELD, Ohio — Greenfield Village Council will hold a special meeting Wednesday to go over the village’s 2027 budget, according to a notice the village posted to its Facebook page and to its official meeting calendar.
The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in council chambers at the municipal building, 300 Jefferson St., and is open to the public, the village said. It falls outside council’s regular first- and third-Monday meeting schedule, according to the notice.
The session comes about six weeks after council voted Aug. 3 to adopt the village’s 2027 tax budget under Resolution No. 9-2026, authorizing Mayor Borreson to execute it. That resolution passed as emergency legislation during council’s regular meeting that night, alongside a separate measure funding sewer system upgrades.
Under Ohio law, villages adopt an annual tax budget and submit it to their county’s budget commission, which reviews revenue and spending plans for local taxing authorities — townships, villages, school districts and the county itself — before certifying how much money each government has to work with for the coming year. Wednesday’s meeting gives council another opportunity to review the village’s 2027 numbers with the mayor and fiscal officer as that budget process continues.
The meeting comes under Greenfield’s newer form of government. Voters elected officials in November 2025 to serve under the village’s Federal Plan structure, which took effect Jan. 1 and is governed by Ohio Revised Code sections 705.71 through 705.86. Under that plan, the mayor and three council members are the village’s only elected officials; the mayor appoints department heads, including the fiscal officer and solicitor, and must approve legislation council passes before it takes effect.
Greenfield straddles Highland and Ross counties and had a population of 4,339 as of the 2020 census.
