PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio — The Ohio Department of Transportation will convert the intersection of State Route 674 and State Route 188 at the Pickaway-Fairfield county line to an all-way stop beginning Sept. 28, after 32 crashes at the site over five years, according to ODOT.
Currently, only drivers on SR 674 must stop before entering or crossing SR 188. Under the new configuration, traffic in all directions will be required to stop, the agency said.
Between 2020 and 2025, half of the crashes at the intersection resulted in injuries, ODOT said. The most common type was an angle, or T-bone, collision.
ODOT said it will post signage at the intersection ahead of the change to notify motorists.
The conversion is part of a broader ODOT review of intersections statewide to identify locations where an all-way stop could improve safety, according to the department. Sites selected for conversion typically show crash histories with frequent failure-to-stop or failure-to-yield collisions.
