NEW BOSTON, Ohio — New Boston will host its annual Art in the Park event Saturday, showcasing local artists and craftmakers at Millbrook Park, according to a flyer posted by the village.
The event runs from noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 19 and will include booths where artists display and sell paintings, crafts and other work, along with a public art demonstration by Heidi Bender Kauffman, an artist with the Trillium Project, a regional collective that says it uses art and advocacy to support communities across the Ohio River Valley.
Artists and craftspeople who want to set up a booth can register for $25, while food vendors and food trucks pay $50, the village said. Those interested can call the village office at 740-456-4103, extension 102. The village said it is asking participants to refrain from displaying or selling artwork created primarily with generative artificial intelligence, and that violators could be asked to leave or barred from future events.
The event is the latest in a series of fall gatherings New Boston has scheduled for Millbrook Park. Village officials held a cleanup day at the park Sept. 12, and a separate event, the annual Party at the Park, is set for the park Sept. 26 with live music, a Kidz Zone and fireworks.
New Boston, a village of about 2,300 residents along the Ohio River, is entirely surrounded by the city of Portsmouth except for its river border. The village was platted in 1891, and its population peaked at 5,931 residents in 1930, according to U.S. Census figures, before declining through the 20th century.
