Robert Lee Harris, 87, of Chillicothe, formerly of Columbus, passed away Thursday evening, September 17, 2026, at Westmoreland Place following an extended illness.
He was born May 5, 1939, in Columbus, Ohio, son of the late Braxton E. and Viola P. (Stoner) Harris. On February 23, 1957, he married his beloved wife, Olive “Myrtle” (Eddy) Harris, who preceded him in death on March 13, 2015.
Surviving are their children, David (Tammy) Harris, Hillsboro, and Debra (Mike) Harris Taylor, of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Ryan Kuhns, Ft. Myers, FL, Katherine Harris, Devon (Cheyenne) Harris, Andrew (Kirsten) Harris, David Harris, Jr., and Kayla Harris; 12 great-grandchildren; his sister, Sandra Lianne (Harris) Howard, Chandler, AZ; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Douglas Harris.
Robert was a member of the First Baptist Church of West Jefferson, Ohio, a member of the Woodcarvers Club of Ohio, and the Good Sam Camping Club. He retired from Ross Abbott Lab in 1995 as a supervisor.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at the Haller Funeral Home. Friends may join the family for visitation from 12:00pm until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Heartland Hospice in his honor.
