GREENFIELD, Ohio — Parents of Greenfield Exempted Village Schools students will begin receiving text messages when their child is marked absent, under a new notification system starting Wednesday.
The district said the change takes effect Sept. 23 and runs through the ParentSquare platform, which the district already uses for other family communications.
Under the new process, a parent whose child is marked absent will get a text from ParentSquare. Families who have their ParentSquare notification settings set to also receive email and app alerts will get those as well, according to the district. Parents can then submit an excuse for the absence directly by clicking the notification.
The district said parents can also report an upcoming absence in advance through the ParentSquare app or website, and directions for doing so are posted on the district’s ParentSquare help page.
“We are excited to make this change with how absences are communicated between school and home,” the district said in a statement, adding that staff are available to answer questions about the new system.
