Curtis D. “Curt” Hines, 93, of Chillicothe passed 4:13 p.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, at the Adena Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born November 11, 1932, in Chillicothe, to the late Donald C. and Helen E. Strausbaugh Hines. On February 14, 1960, he married the former Nancy C. Weir who passed January 21, 2009.
Surviving are a sister-in-law, Cindy Scott, of Londonderry; nieces and nephews, Larry Wills, of Waverly, Jeff (Kathy) Wills, of Richmond Dale, Mike (Melissa) Wills, of Chillicothe, Diane (Art) Hill, of Londonderry, Mark (Tammy) Scott, of Fort Myers, FL, Jay Scott, of California, Steve Scott, of Londonderry, Julie (Matt) Cowan, of Peachtree, GA, Trina (Eddie) O’Dell, of Chillicothe and Kevin Hines, of Chillicothe; best friend, Richard “Brownie” Brown, of Chillicothe; and many other friends. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Hines.
He was an original founder of the Igniters Car Club. Curt was there from the beginning and was a part of the history that made the Igniters what it is today. Curt will be missed by so many of the club’s members and friends that he made along the way. In addition, he was also a regular at Main Street McDonald’s “Morning Liars Club” where he had many friends too. He was the founder, owner, and operator of the Watt Street Carryout.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2026 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Mark Clendaniel officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
