Chester E. Burns, 75, of Chillicothe, passed at 7:52 a.m. Thursday, October 1, 2026 at his residence unexpectedly.
He was born April 30, 1951, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to the late Paul B. and Daisy “Irene” Mercer Burns. In July of 1991, he married the former Cassandra “Sandy” Mick who survives.
Also surviving are a son Matt (Tina) Burns; a daughter, Sarah (Damon) Taylor; a stepson, Daniel Tatman, all of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Chelsea, Ryan (Sara), Brookie (Corbett), Brayden, Alex, Tucker, Harper, Uriah (Heidi) and Elijah; great grandchildren, Carter, Ryder, Willow, and Reuben; and a life long friend, Mike Gumm. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Paulette Nusser and a stepson, Shane Tatman.
Chester retired from Chilpaco where he had worked for many years. He was a member of U.S.W. Local 988 and VFW Post 108.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2026 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Brett Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service on Tuesday.
