Eileen Bowman, 94, of Waverly, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by her loving family, Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
Eileen was born on February 21, 1932, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Raymond and Violet Caldwell.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 75 years, Ernie Bowman, the love of her life; her five children, Ernest “Ed” (Carol) Bowman II, Violet Parker, David (Lois) Bowman, Rebecca (Joe) Dresbach, and Raymond (Vicki) Bowman; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Swartz, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Eileen was preceded in death by her sister, Edith Selee and brothers in law, Bill Selee and Dick Swartz.
Eileen lived a life devoted to her Lord, her family, and serving others. For more than 30 years, she faithfully taught Sunday school to children ages two through four, helping plant the seeds of faith in countless young hearts.
Together, Eileen and Ernie served as volunteer missionaries in many countries around the world, sharing God’s love and serving those in need.
They also led a weekly Bible study at a nursing home for 40 years, faithfully bringing encouragement, friendship, and the Word of God to the residents.
More than anything, Eileen loved her family and treasured every opportunity to spend time with them. She was known for her homemade butterhorn rolls, which her father and Ernie often said were as soft as a mother’s kiss.
Eileen will be remembered as a joyful, loving lady who always had a kind word of encouragement.
She often said that her greatest accomplishment in life was raising five children that are all serving the Lord. Her legacy of faith and love will continue through the generations of her family and the countless lives she touched.
