CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A traffic signal at the intersection of Water Street and Western Avenue is out of service, and city crews are actively working on repairs, the City of Chillicothe said Friday.
In a post on the city’s Facebook page, officials urged drivers to use caution when approaching the intersection while the signal remains out.
The city did not say what caused the outage or provide an estimated timeline for when the light will be back in service.
Under Ohio law, drivers approaching an intersection with a dark or malfunctioning traffic signal are required to treat it as an all-way stop, coming to a complete stop before proceeding through.
The intersection sits on Chillicothe’s west side, near the Ross County Courthouse area, and carries steady traffic between downtown and the city’s western neighborhoods.
The information contained in this story was obtained from the City of Chillicothe.
