CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A man had to be extricated from beneath a vehicle after a crash in the 2400 block of Three Locks Road southwest of the city Friday evening, and a medical helicopter was called to the scene, according to initial emergency radio traffic monitored by the Scioto Valley Guardian.

Crews were dispatched shortly after 7:40 p.m. for a report of a patient, described on the air as a 44-year-old man, needing medical attention, with mutual aid rescue squads responding to help, according to radio traffic.

MedFlight, a medical helicopter, was placed on standby and later dispatched to fly to the scene, radio traffic indicated. Crews set up a landing zone near a fire station close to Airport Road, moving it at one point because of nearby power lines, according to radio traffic.

On scene, radio traffic indicated the man was trapped underneath the vehicle and firefighters worked to extricate him. He was later freed, according to radio traffic, though his condition was not stated over the air.

MedFlight reported a 10- to 15-minute flight time to the scene after finishing fueling, according to radio traffic. The scene was cleared a short time later, radio traffic indicated.
