HILLSBORO, Ohio — A local coffee stand is brewing up support for Highland County children this holiday season, pledging a share of its sales next week to the sheriff’s office’s Shop with a Cop program.
The Coffee Corral will donate 10% of its sales to Shop with a Cop on Wednesday, Oct. 28, between 6:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. at the Highland County Sheriff’s Office on Homestead Avenue in Hillsboro, according to a flyer the sheriff’s office shared on social media promoting the fundraiser.
The sheriff’s office is asking residents to stop by during the window, meet deputies and support the cause. “Support a great cause!” the office said in a social media post announcing the event. “Come out, say hello, and help us make a difference for kids in our community!”
Shop with a Cop programs, run by law enforcement agencies across the country, typically pair officers with children from families facing financial hardship for a supervised holiday shopping trip, with fundraisers held throughout the year covering the cost of gifts. The Highland County Sheriff’s Office holds its own version of the program each year, funded in part through community donations and events like the coffee fundraiser.
The flyer for Wednesday’s event doubles as a thank-you to local first responders, thanking area police, fire and EMS personnel for their service while directing the proceeds toward the children’s shopping program.
