James Philip Fox, MD

April 9, 1943 – October 18, 2026

Dr. James Philip Fox, 83, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories, a remarkable legacy in medicine, and countless lives forever touched by his kindness and dedication.

Jim was born on April 9, 1943, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, to Nelson and Kathryn (Swartz) Fox. He graduated from Kenton Senior High School before continuing his education at Ohio Northern University. He graduated from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1972 and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Michigan from 1973 to 1976.

Jim dedicated much of his life to caring for others. As an obstetrician-gynecologist and emergency room physician, his compassion, dedication, and care left a lasting impression on the many families he served. He established his own medical practice and had the privilege of delivering thousands of babies, welcoming generations of children into the world. His dedication to medicine and the people he cared for were an important part of who he was.

Outside of medicine, Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time along Florida’s beautiful Gulf of America coastline. He loved playing cards with his family and cherished the quiet comfort of sitting on his back porch with his beloved dog, Charlie, by his side.

Jim is survived by his wife and best friend, Tammy Hill; his daughter, Rylie (Kenny) Hill; his sons, Timothy Haller, Jody (Mandy) Fox, Jamie (Mindy) Fox, Jason (Laura) Fox, and Jesse (Mike) Fox; and his stepson, Brandon (Amanda) Hill.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Iva, Jennica, Josh, Peyton, Reagan, Tre, Radford, Grayson, Phil, Jacob, Raynor, and Liam; his beloved great-grandchildren; his siblings, Cheryl (Gerald) Purcell, Cindy (Bill) Mabrey, and Joel (Daniela) Fox; along with extended family and many loved ones.

Jim shared a special bond with his “favorite baby brother,” Joel. The two were incredibly close, spending countless hours sharing stories and laughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Kathryn Fox; his son, Adam Fox; his sister, Betty (Joseph) Brodie; and his grandson, Jake Haller.

In accordance with Jim’s wishes, there will be no traditional funeral service. His family plans to gather privately at Indian Lake for a celebration of his life, sharing cherished memories and honoring the many years they were fortunate to have with him.

Jim’s legacy lives on through the family he loved, the lives he touched, and the thousands of families who welcomed new life with his help. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Full service details and the family guest book are available at Haller Funeral Home & Crematory.
