Some people leave behind memories. Others leave behind a feeling—a warmth that stays with you, laughter that you can still hear in your mind, and a love that continues to bring people together long after they are gone. Mary Etta Blair was one of those people.

On October 18, 2026, Mary gained her angel wings and peacefully entered eternal rest. While her passing leaves a space in the hearts of those who loved her, the life she lived, the laughter she shared, and the love she gave will forever remain a part of the family and people she held so dear. Her story is one of family, love, treasured moments, and a legacy that will continue to grow through generations.

Mary was born on February 1, 1956, in Elkins, West Virginia, to her loving parents, William Kenneth Iseli and Doris Snider. Her father preceded her in death on December 26, 2019. Mary was also preceded in death by her beloved son, Michael Snider, who passed away on May 3, 2018. Though their absence has brought heartache to those who remain, there is comfort in the faith that heaven has welcomed Mary home and that she has been reunited with loved ones who went before her.

Mary leaves behind a host of family and friends who will forever carry her love in their hearts: her devoted daughter, Sonia Shanks (Stacy); her cherished grandchildren, Cody, Jaden, Shelby, and Kendall; and the beautiful blessing of three great-grandchildren on the way. She is also survived by her beloved mother, Doris Snider; her cherished sister, Virginia “Jenny” Iseli; and her loving niece, Bianca Newton.

Later in life, Mary married the love of her life, Chuck Blair. Together they shared many happy years in Waterford, Ohio, along with her beloved dog, Sassy.

Mary studied cosmetology and enjoyed putting her skills to use throughout her life. She loved going to the movies, spending time outdoors, and making memories with family and her dear friend Doloris Gillis. She understood the value of life’s simple pleasures, the beauty of being outside, the happiness of spending time with people who matter, and the moments that become treasured memories. Mary will be remembered for her infectious laugh, kind heart, and the unconditional love she shared with everyone around her.

In lieu of a formal service, the family will hold a private Celebration of Life to honor Mary’s memory and reflect on the love, laughter, and lasting impact she brought to their lives.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-4 – A Season for Every Thing

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; … A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.”
