WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — Washington Court House City Council will consider a sweeping rewrite of the city’s water rates, including a new debt service charge and automatic inflation adjustments, when it meets Oct. 28.
Ordinance No. 14-2026, up for a first reading, would amend Section 54.03 of the city’s codified ordinances to establish a long-term water-rate schedule, add a temporary water debt service charge and build in automatic inflation adjustments for water bills, while leaving the city’s existing sewer rates unchanged, according to the meeting agenda.
Council is also scheduled to take a second reading on Resolution No. R32-2026, which would authorize City Manager Joseph J. Denen to enter into a cooperative agreement with the Ohio Department of Transportation for a resurfacing and guardrail improvement project on U.S. Route 62 and U.S. Route 753, the agenda said.
In another second reading, Resolution No. R33-2026 would confirm Denen’s appointment of Fire Chief Chris Wysong to the Emergency Medical District Board in Fayette County.
Council will also hold a public hearing on expanding the dates for the city’s Downtown Outdoor Recreation Area, known as DORA, and take a first reading on Ordinance No. 13-2026, which would amend a 2022 ordinance to expand the days allowed for the Main Street Fayette outdoor refreshment area, according to the agenda.
A second reading is also set for Ordinance No. 12-2026, which would amend provisions of Chapter 52 of the city code relating to sewers, industrial wastewater enforcement, service extensions and the administrative implementation of sewer rates, the agenda said.
The meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28. Council will also hear reports from the city manager, finance director and city attorney and take comments from residents, according to the agenda.
