JACKSON, Ohio — A 49-year-old Wellston man died early Monday after the motorcycle he was riding left the roadway and struck an embankment in Jackson County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported to the Jackson Dispatch Center at approximately 1:24 a.m. on Finley Chapel Road near Glen Roy Road, the patrol said.

Shad Hill was driving a 2001 Honda CBR600 eastbound on Finley Chapel Road when he failed to negotiate a curve, traveled off the left side of the road, overturned, struck a ditch and then struck an embankment, according to the patrol. Hill was pronounced dead at the scene.

The patrol’s Jackson Post was assisted at the scene by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Wellston Police Department, Jackson County EMS and Wellston Fire Department.

The crash remains under investigation, the patrol said.

The information contained in this story was obtained from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
