LUCASVILLE, Ohio — Water One has issued a boil water advisory for customers along Gephart Road, the Scioto County Emergency Management Agency said in a Facebook post.
The advisory covers addresses from 939 to 1572 Gephart Road and will remain in effect until further notice, according to the EMA.
Customers in the affected area are advised to boil tap water for at least two minutes before drinking it or using it for cooking, the agency said. Infants and people with weakened immune systems face the greatest risk from contaminated water, according to the advisory.
Boil advisories are typically issued after a loss of water pressure, a water main break or other disruption that could allow bacteria or other contaminants to enter the distribution system.
Water One, formally known as Scioto County Regional Water District No. 1, is headquartered on state Route 728 in Lucasville. The district, which operates under Ohio Revised Code Chapter 6119 governing regional water and sewer districts, supplies water to customers across eight townships in Scioto County.
