MCARTHUR, Ohio — Vinton County Road 46, also known as West Junction Road, will close to all through traffic beginning at 8 a.m. Friday for a bridge replacement project near the Ross County line, according to the Vinton County Engineer’s Office.

The closure covers a 0.3-mile stretch of the road starting at the Ross County line and extending east, Vinton County Engineer Roy DePue announced. The project is being carried out jointly with the Ross County Engineer’s Office, since the bridge sits on the boundary between the two counties.

Local traffic will continue to be maintained east of the project site, and the closure is expected to last through the end of the day Friday, the engineer’s office said.

DePue, a Vinton County native and 1970 graduate of Vinton County High School, earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Ohio University in 1974. He spent decades in engineering roles, including work for U.S. Department of Energy contractors, before being elected Vinton County Engineer in 2017. His office oversees maintenance and repair of the county’s roads and bridges.

The engineer’s office thanked residents for their patience while the bridge, described as a critical infrastructure link, is replaced.
