CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Joshua D. Muck has been named the Chillicothe Post’s 2026 Trooper of the Year, the patrol announced.

Muck, 28, was recognized for his service throughout 2026 at the Chillicothe Post. He was selected for the honor by his fellow troopers, who cited his work attitude, leadership abilities, community engagement and professionalism with supervisors, peers and the public, according to the patrol.

Muck now advances to compete for the District and State Trooper of the Year awards, which will be announced at a later date, the patrol said.

Muck earned the Criminal Patrol Award in 2024 and 2026, and the ACE Award for auto larceny apprehension in 2023. He also received the Award of Excellence for auto larceny in 2024, according to the patrol.

A Minford native, Muck joined the Ohio State Highway Patrol in 2021 as a member of the 168th Academy Class. After graduating, he was assigned to the Chillicothe Post, where he continues to serve. He attended Minford High School in Scioto County before earning an associate degree in wildlife resource management at Hocking College, the patrol said.
