CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The city’s free trolley service is offering dedicated shuttle rides today to the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Yoctangee Park’s new amphitheater, part of a broader November schedule the Chillicothe Transit System released this week.

The Yoctangee Park Ribbon Cutting Shuttle runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, picking up riders at four regular trolley stops — the Armory, Enderlin Circle near the Lions Shelter, the City Pool and the Pump House — and carrying them to the new amphitheater for the ceremony and a tour of the park’s new facilities, according to the transit system’s schedule.

The amphitheater is one of the signature features of Yoctangee Park’s roughly $35 million renovation, funded through Ohio’s Appalachian Community Grant Program using federal American Rescue Plan Act dollars distributed through the Governor’s Office of Appalachia and the Ohio Department of Development. The project has also delivered a repaved Enderlin Circle, a new multiuse pavilion, renovations to the historic Chillicothe Armory, six new pickleball courts, a resurfaced tennis complex and a new roundabout at Mill Street and Yoctangee Parkway, according to the city.

Beyond today’s shuttle, the free, wheelchair-accessible trolley’s downtown route runs 5 to 8:30 p.m. Fridays, Nov. 6 and 13, and 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays, according to the schedule.

The transit system is also launching a new neighborhood route on Friday, Nov. 20, from 5 to 8:30 p.m., coinciding with a downtown open house and tree lighting. That route will add stops throughout the city’s residential areas, including Adams Avenue and Jackson Avenue, Douglas Avenue and Columbus Street, Dayton Street, Cutright Drive, and East Water Street and North Rose Street, among others, according to the city.

The trolley will not run Friday, Nov. 27, in observance of Thanksgiving, the city said. Riders can track the trolley in real time using the Ride Pingo app, according to the schedule.
