ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — The controversy surrounding Adena Health System deepens as a teenager has recently come forward with fresh allegations of inappropriate sexual conduct against Certified Nurse Practitioner Kelly Hill, already under investigation for a prior case of alleged misconduct.
The new allegation involves a private patient of Hill’s, with claims involving an unprofessional and invasive examination. It comes on the heels of an elected official who lodged similar complaints against the provider.
The young teen who was visiting Hill’s office for the first time, reported an equally inappropriate encounter. According to the report, the boy’s mother, who was present during the examination and is now serving as a witness, Hill stated that he needed to “check the gender” of the patient. It is reported that Hill then proceeded to lower the boy’s pants and inspect his genitals, an action perceived as completely unorthodox and improper. The boy reportedly refused the provider’s request but after being persuaded, agreed, the report says.
These allegations come after a prior accusation from an elected official in southeast Ohio, who came forward with claims of an unnecessary prostate exam performed by Hill. Adena Health System has been previously criticized for its handling of sexual harassment and misconduct claims. The hospital had been accused of failing to properly address these complaints.
The State Medical Board and the State Nursing Board have been conducting an ongoing investigation into Hill, after receiving several complaints from other patients. Despite these allegations, Hill, who was once the sports medical examiner for Unioto Schools, remains employed by Adena Health System. The healthcare provider has yet to release a statement addressing these recent claims.
The increasing number of accusations underscore the pressing need for patient safety and consent in all healthcare interactions. Legal authorities and state investigators are actively looking into these claims. Updates on the case will be provided as the investigation progresses.
The Ross County Prosecutor’s Office has not yet stated whether the new allegations will lead to criminal charges, given their previous decision to view the official’s claim as a civil matter. The boy’s report has been forwarded to detectives for further review.
As Adena Health System is once again placed under the spotlight, the demand for accountability and reform within the hospital’s ranks grows louder.
