CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – The Chillicothe City Council has released its agenda for tonight’s council meeting, featuring key discussions on funding allocations that will impact community projects, infrastructure improvements, and public welfare initiatives.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM at the Council Chambers, 26 South Paint Street. Council members will deliberate on multiple legislative items, including a third and final reading of an ordinance to appropriate $50,000 from unappropriated general funds to support the Ross County Humane Society’s Animal Care and Adoption Center project. The funding is expected to bolster animal welfare efforts and adoption services within the community.

Also on its final reading is an ordinance to allocate $40,000 from One Ohio Opioid Settlement funds to the Hope Partnership project, underscoring the city’s ongoing efforts to address the opioid crisis. Additionally, the council will consider a resolution to replace an expiring 0.2% levy for street paving and infrastructure improvements. If approved, the levy would extend from January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2035, and will be placed on the May 6, 2025, ballot for public vote.

A second reading is also set for an ordinance to allocate an additional $50,000 from opioid settlement funds to the Ross County Community Action Commission. This funding is designated for community health and welfare initiatives aimed at supporting residents affected by substance abuse and economic hardship.

Among new legislative matters, the council will review:

✔ A first reading of an ordinance to allocate $276,050.65 from the Public Entities Pool of Ohio for essential roof repairs on a city-owned property at 400 East Seventh Street.
✔ A first reading of an ordinance to appropriate more than $3 million to cover continuing purchase orders from 2024 and other carryover amounts for the 2025 fiscal year.

As the city prepares for the year ahead, these funding decisions will play a crucial role in public services, infrastructure maintenance, and community support programs. The upcoming meeting is expected to draw interest from local residents, business owners, and advocacy groups.
