PIKE COUNTY, Ohio — Multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in a law enforcement situation that unfolded overnight on Long Fork Road in Pike County.
Reports indicate that police began surveillance of the property around 1 a.m. on Thursday with law enforcement personnel staged at the fairgrounds and a local church.
The situation continued for several hours, with the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, Waverly Police Department, and Piketon Police Department all participating. Also involved were the SWAT teams from Portsmouth Police and Ross County Sheriff’s Office.
According to reports, just before 4 a.m., shots were fired at the property that was under surveillance. It was not released who opened fire, however, no injuries were sustained.
Records show that a man and woman were charged with several drug charges, including trafficking fentanyl.
It is unclear at this time what led to the shots being fired or who opened fire. The investigation is ongoing.
