CLINTON COUNTY, Ohio — A Clinton County elementary school suffered significant damage over the holiday break. According to the Clinton-Warren Joint Fire District, crews responded to a fire alarm call with water flow at the Clinton – Massie Elementary School.

When they arrived at the scene, they found heavy water flow and approximately 8 inches of water throughout the front office area of the building. Water and ceiling tiles were floating throughout the hallways and offices.

Crews quickly confirmed that a fire was not the cause of the water flow and isolated the water shut off and electricity to the structure. School officials were notified and were on the scene quickly to assist with controlling the damage. Once the water flow was stopped, crews could turn on the electricity and heat to prevent further damage to the structure. It is not yet known how the water leak occurred or the extent of the damage caused.
An estimate of the damage done has not been released.
