NORMAN, Oklahoma— The National Weather Service (NWS) and Storm Prediction Center (SPC) have increased the likelihood of severe weather for the Scioto Valley, advising residents to prepare for severe thunderstorms capable of producing large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes . The greatest risk for severe weather is forecast for Tuesday afternoon and evening, between 12 PM and 8 PM.
The SPC has placed the region under a “moderate risk” for severe weather, a designation rarely used for the area. Additionally, a hatched area within the moderate risk zone indicates a very high likelihood of severe weather events occurring in that specific location. Forecasters warn that “all hazards are on the table,” including a heightened risk of strong and potentially damaging tornadoes.
Local authorities are urging residents to stay weather-aware.
