CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A juvenile is facing multiple charges after a high-speed chase with Ross County Sheriff’s deputies on Saturday.
The incident began on US 23 near US 35 when deputies observed a white Ford Fusion traveling northbound at 113 mph in a 60 mph zone. The deputy reportedly attempted a traffic stop, but the driver extinguished the vehicle’s lights and fled westbound on US 35.
The driver exited US 35 at Bridge Street and was stopped by the pursuing deputy. The juvenile driver was detained for reckless driving and admitted to fleeing to avoid a speeding ticket. The deputy placed the juvenile in custody.
After obtaining a court order, authorities say, the juvenile was transported to a Juvenile Detention Center (JDC) on charges of Failure to Comply with the Order or Signal of a Police Officer.
During a vehicle search, a bag containing suspected marijuana was found and seized as evidence. The juvenile’s parent was notified, and a tow company removed the vehicle.
The juvenile was released to the custody of JDC staff and issued citations for Speed, Reckless Operation, and Failure to Comply with a Police Officer.
