CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Two local businesses have been cited for health code violations, according to recent inspections.
Speedway, located at 1136 E Main St, was found to have several critical violations. Inspectors observed a handwashing sink being used for purposes other than handwashing, with an accumulation of liquid present at the time of inspection. The Person in Charge (PIC) stated that chocolate milk had been dumped down the sink earlier in the day.
Food-contact surfaces of the hot dog roller were not sanitized at the required frequency, and there was an accumulation of food debris on the rollers. The dispensing tube on a bulk milk container was not cut properly, and the non-food contact surfaces of a soda machine had a noticeable build-up. Ice accumulation was also observed in the walk-in freezer.
At Los Mariachis of Stoneridge Dr. LLC, located at 28 Stoneridge, employees were not informed in a verifiable manner of their responsibility to report information about their health. Multiple food items in the walk-in cooler, reach-in cooler, and hot holding area were found without covers, and in-use knives were stored between the prep table and prep cooler.
A repeat violation was observed with the nonfood-contact surface of a drawer of a prep table, which had duct tape over the drawer seals and was not easily cleanable. Ice accumulation was found on the condenser of the freezer and shelving, and the light intensity in the walk-in cooler was less than ten-foot candles.
The Food Service Operation (FSO) did not have a person in charge per shift with the person in charge certification in food protection.
