JACKSON, Ohio — A fatal crash on U.S. Route 35 in Jackson County, claimed one life late Saturday night, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
At approximately 10:45 p.m. troopers from the Jackson Patrol Post responded to the scene near milepost 6. Jason Frey, 46, of Chillicothe, was driving a 2021 Audi A5 westbound when he lost control, failed to navigate a curve, and veered off the left side of the roadway into the median, troopers said. Frey’s vehicle then entered the eastbound lanes, colliding with a 2014 Chevrolet Captiva driven by Luke White, 18, of Milton, West Virginia. After the impact, Frey’s car overturned multiple times before stopping in the median.
Frey was taken to Holzer Hospital of Jackson by Jackson County EMS, where he was later pronounced dead. White and his passenger received minor injuries in the collision.
The eastbound lanes of US 35 were closed for about an hour for crash investigation and cleanup operations.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
