VINTON COUNTY, Ohio — Deputies with the Vinton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a range of calls across the county between March 2 and March 4, including crashes, domestic disputes, suspicious activity complaints, and a nationwide felony warrant arrest.
According to the sheriff’s office activity log, deputies handled multiple traffic accidents and roadway incidents during the three-day period. On March 2 alone, deputies responded to property damage crashes on U.S. Route 50 in Madison Township, Macedonia Road in Eagle Township, Main Street in McArthur, and State Route 93 in Elk Township. Another crash was reported later that evening on U.S. Route 50 in Harrison Township.
Deputies also responded to a residential burglary alarm on Second Street in Zaleski early March 2 and later that afternoon assisted with a funeral escort in McArthur. That same day included calls for a fire on Elm Street in Hamden, a domestic dispute on Pretty Run Road in Jackson Township, and a report of threats or harassment along U.S. Route 50 in Elk Township.
Other activity included several traffic stops, a 911 hang-up call in Wilkesville Township, and the recovery of a stolen vehicle from Hocking County on Garrett Ridge Road in Jackson Township.
Suspicious Activity, Theft Reports
On March 3, deputies conducted patrol checks in Clinton Township and McArthur after receiving complaints of suspicious persons. Deputies also investigated a report of a stolen vehicle on Wolf Hill Road in Richland Township. Authorities say the vehicle has since been recovered, and criminal charges have been forwarded to the Vinton County Prosecutor’s Office.
Other calls that day included a litter complaint on Carpenter Road, a well-being check in Swan Township, and a trespassing complaint on Wolf Hill Road.
High Water Incidents Lead to Arrest
Several calls on March 4 were related to high water on roadways following recent rain, including incidents on State Route 683 and State Route 349.
While responding to the high-water call on State Route 349 in Clinton Township, deputies arrested Erika Williams, 36, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on a nationwide felony warrant issued out of Kentucky, according to the sheriff’s office.
Williams was transported to the Gallia County Jail, where she will remain pending extradition proceedings.

Additional incidents during the period included:
- An injury crash on Main Street in McArthur
- An animal complaint on Wolf Hill Road
- A fraud report on Brooks Martin Road
- A narcotics complaint on Zion Road
- A theft report on State Route 56
- Deputies clearing debris from State Route 278
- A mental health crisis call in Swan Township
Authorities also conducted several additional traffic stops in Hamden and Clinton Township.
The sheriff’s office reminds the public that all suspects, arrested individuals, and cited persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
