At approximately 5:14 a.m., Sgt. Champion and Deputy Sutton responded to Anderson Station Road in Chillicothe after a vehicle drove off the roadway and into a river. The driver told dispatch his car was submerged and he could not swim, but was later found walking on the roadway. The driver stated he had swerved to avoid a deer and went off the right side of the road into the water. The driver was evaluated by Union Township fire and EMS and refused treatment.

Arrest Made in Domestic Dispute Over Arson Threats

At approximately 7:25 a.m., Sgt. Champion and Deputy Sutton were dispatched to Atlantis Road in Chillicothe in reference to a domestic dispute. The caller reported that a male subject was threatening to burn the residence and the caller’s mother’s trailer. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the suspect, who was arrested and charged with aggravated menacing.

At 7:22 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to Lane Drive in Chillicothe in reference to a suicide threats complaint. The deputy made contact with the caller, who advised that her husband was suicidal, and an investigation was started.

At approximately 11:40 a.m., Sgt. Champion and Deputy Sutton were dispatched to Westfall Road in Clarksburg in reference to a dog bite. A female caller reported she was attacked by a dog and was transported by Union Township EMS. Deputies were advised that two large Great Pyrenees were at large in the area. The Ross County dog warden was contacted and arrived on scene to pick up the two dogs.

VA Police stated they had attempted to assist the female, but she was refusing treatment. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with VA Police and the female, and she was transported to Chillicothe to pick up her belongings.
