WAVERLY, Ohio — The Pike County Suicide Prevention Coalition will host its seventh annual Suicide Awareness Color Run & Community Event on Aug. 8 at Waverly High School, offering residents a morning of racing, mental health resources and family activities.
The event runs from 8 a.m. to noon, with registration opening at 8:30 a.m. and the race beginning at 10 a.m., according to a coalition flyer posted to Facebook.
Registration costs $25 and includes a T-shirt and swag bag for those who sign up by July 31, the coalition said. Runners and walkers can register online at tristateracer.com.
Beyond the race itself, the event will include resource tables connecting attendees with local support services, a dunk tank, an appearance by area fire and EMS crews and their equipment, and a station with games and activities for children, according to the flyer.
This year’s event marks the seventh time the coalition has organized the run, which carries the theme “Never Give Up” and is aimed at raising awareness of suicide prevention resources available to Pike County residents.
The Pike County Suicide Prevention Coalition works in coordination with the Pike County General Health District as part of a statewide network of county-level suicide prevention coalitions, according to the Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation.
