HILLSBORO, Ohio — The city of Hillsboro is accepting sealed bids for a 2026 project to reconstruct the intersection of Fenner Avenue and state Route 73, according to a bid advertisement the city posted this week.
Bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope addressed to the city at 130 N. High St. and received by 9 a.m. Aug. 12, with the envelope marked “Bid for 2026 Fenner/73 Intersection Improvements” and directed to the attention of Shawn Adkins, the notice said. The city plans to publicly open and read the bids aloud at a meeting Aug. 14 at 9 a.m.
The project calls for furnishing and installing a new Ohio Department of Transportation Item 448 asphalt concrete surface course, along with incidental work on existing city roadways, in accordance with ODOT construction and material specifications, standard construction drawings and the Ohio Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices, according to the advertisement. Hillsboro, the Highland County seat, will fund the work entirely with local money, the notice said.
Bidding documents, contract forms and project specifications are available at no charge from the city office at 130 N. High St. or through the city’s website, the notice said. Contractors awarded the job will be required to pay prevailing wage rates set by the Ohio Department of Industrial Relations, and no bidder may withdraw a submitted bid for 45 days after the bid opening.
The city said it will award the contract to the lowest and best bidder, pending approval from the applicable funding agency and City Council, and reserves the right to waive informalities or reject any or all bids.
