SOUTH BLOOMFIELD, Ohio — The Village of South Bloomfield Council will take up a funding increase for Pickaway County Public Health, a village pay schedule change and a closed-door session on the discipline or possible dismissal of a village employee when it meets Monday, Aug. 3, at 6 p.m.
The regular council meeting will be held at the Municipal Building, 5000 Park Place, according to a Facebook post and agenda released by village officials, who encouraged residents to attend and “stay informed” on local government business.
On the agenda’s list of unfinished business, council is scheduled to give a third reading to Resolution 2026-08, which would authorize a 10 percent funding increase for Pickaway County Public Health. The combined health district serves every township, village and municipality in the county, including South Bloomfield, administering programs such as immunizations, food safety inspections, vital statistics and communicable disease investigations.
Council members are also set to give second readings to Ordinance 2026-08, which would amend the village’s pay schedule for non-police employees, and Ordinance 2026-09, which would amend the village’s certificate of resources to add funds the village received to cover inspection costs tied to the Sycamore Point subdivision development.
The subdivision item comes as South Bloomfield continues to be one of the fastest-growing villages in central Ohio. The village’s population rose from 1,179 residents in 2000 to 2,143 by 2020, and has been estimated at more than 4,000 residents in more recent counts, according to U.S. Census figures. Aaron Thomas serves as the village’s mayor.
After the public business concludes, council plans to enter executive session under Ohio Revised Code 121.22(G)(1), the provision of the state’s open-meetings law that allows public bodies to meet privately to consider “the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion, or compensation of a public employee.” According to the agenda, the closed session will address the discipline or possible dismissal of a village employee, with all council members and human resources representative Kris Cannon Jackson invited to attend. Ohio law requires that any formal action resulting from an executive session be taken afterward in open session.
The agenda also calls for department head reports from the village administrator, chief fiscal officer and marshal, along with council member updates, before a vote to pay bills and adjournment.
