PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — The Portsmouth City Health Department’s Primary Care Clinic is accepting new patients, with same-day appointments and walk-ins welcome, the department announced in a social media post.

Nicole Brown, a certified nurse practitioner, is seeing patients at the clinic, according to the post. The clinic accepts Medicaid, Medicare and commercial insurance, and offers a sliding fee scale for uninsured patients who provide proof of income, the department said.

The clinic operates out of the health department’s building at 605 Washington St. and is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, according to the department’s website. Uninsured residents who qualify can receive sliding-scale discounts of up to 40% off standard fees, the website states.

The primary care clinic runs under the health department’s Nursing Division, led by Nursing Services Director Mary Garlits. The department, overseen by Health Commissioner Chris Smith, states its mission is to prevent disease, promote optimal health and safety, and bridge gaps in unmet health care needs for Portsmouth residents.

Residents interested in scheduling a visit can call the clinic at 740-353-8863 or visit portsmouthcityhealth.org.
