GREENFIELD, Ohio — Greenfield Village Council is scheduled to hold a public hearing Monday night on expanding the village’s downtown outdoor drinking district, one of three major items on the agenda for its Aug. 3 meeting, along with adopting a 2027 tax budget and awarding a contract for sewer system upgrades.
Council members will take up the first reading of Ordinance No. 27-2026, which would amend a 2022 ordinance to add an additional parcel to the boundaries of Greenfield’s Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area, according to the meeting agenda. The measure is written as emergency legislation, meaning it would take effect immediately if approved rather than after the standard 30-day waiting period.
Ohio’s Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area law, in effect since 2015 under state law, lets adults 21 and older carry alcoholic drinks purchased from participating businesses within a mapped district rather than requiring them to stay inside the establishment. Greenfield’s DORA was originally established under Ordinance No. 10-2022.
The council is also expected to vote on Resolution No. 9-2026, adopting the village’s 2027 tax budget and authorizing the mayor to execute it, and Resolution No. 10-2026, authorizing the mayor to enter into a contract for the purchase and installation of a sewer grit removal system and to spend village funds on the project. Both resolutions are also filed as emergency measures, according to the agenda.
The agenda also calls for reports from the Ordinance & Zoning Committee, which met July 24, and the Health, Safety & Welfare Committee, which met July 28, along with updates from Mayor Borreson, Solicitor Kiger and Fiscal Officer Snodgrass.
Village Council meets on the first and third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the municipal building on Jefferson Street, according to the village’s website. Monday’s meeting includes time for public participation and scheduled speakers before the council moves to old and new business.
