NEW BOSTON, Ohio — Village officials have released a lineup of community events for the rest of 2026, beginning with a back-to-school clothes swap this month and running through a holiday breakfast with Santa in December.
The New Boston village office said in a Facebook post that residents should mark their calendars for seven gatherings between August and December, ranging from a clothing swap and yard sale to a park cleanup, an art show and a Halloween party for village and school families.
New Boston, a village of roughly 2,300 residents along the Ohio River, is entirely surrounded by the city of Portsmouth on its west, north and east sides. The village was platted in 1891 and its population peaked at more than 6,000 in the 1940s before declining through the late 20th century, according to U.S. Census figures.
The schedule announced by the village begins Aug. 15 with a free back-to-school clothes swap, followed by a villagewide yard sale Aug. 28-29. A village cleanup day is set for Sept. 12, with an Art in the Park event the following week on Sept. 19 and a Party in the Park event on Sept. 26.
A joint Halloween party with New Boston Schools and the village is planned for Oct. 24, and the calendar wraps up Dec. 5 with a Breakfast with Santa event.
