HILLSBORO, Ohio — The Highland County Sheriff’s Office has temporarily shortened the hours of its records division after a clerk left for another position within the agency, the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.
Beginning immediately, the records division will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. until the vacancy is filled, according to the sheriff’s office.
The division handles background checks, copies of incident and crash reports, and concealed carry permits, all of which will be limited to the shortened window. In Ohio, applications for a concealed handgun license are processed through the county sheriff’s office where the applicant lives, so any Highland County residents applying for or renewing a permit will need to plan around the new hours.
The sheriff’s office said the position came open after one of its records clerks moved into a different role within the agency. The office said it is now accepting applications for a replacement and apologized for any inconvenience the temporary hours may cause the public.
No end date for the shortened hours was given. The sheriff’s office said normal hours will resume once a new clerk is hired.
