SUGAR TREE RIDGE, Ohio — A crew of about 30 Team Rubicon volunteers has arrived in Highland County to help residents clean up storm damage and is asking the community for help feeding the group during its stay, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office said.

The volunteers, who are camping at a church camp on state Route 136 south of Sugar Tree Ridge, are almost entirely military veterans and are working without pay, according to the sheriff’s office. The deployment follows the group’s damage assessment across the county last week, when volunteers fanned out to survey the toll from severe storms that toppled trees and power lines throughout the area.

The sheriff’s office said residents or groups willing to help provide meals for the roughly 30-person crew are asked to contact Colin Baker at 978-807-4342 or 513-600-0776, or Highland County coordinator Brittane Dance at 937-402-7426.

The sheriff’s office said any help the community can offer would be appreciated as the cleanup effort continues.
