CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — Pickaway County’s job placement agency is gearing up to help fill 110 technician positions that Anduril Industries plans to hire by the end of the year, according to a report given to county commissioners.
Nick Tatman, director of Pickaway County Job and Family Services, told commissioners Aug. 18 that OhioMeansJobs expects to run about 420 candidate assessments to reach that hiring goal for Anduril’s Arsenal-1 facility near Rickenbacker. The effort, described as Phase 1 of the hiring push, will run from September through January, according to the report.
Tatman’s update came during a regular commissioners’ session that also touched on unemployment figures and other job-placement activity. He reported that Pickaway County’s unemployment rate was last measured at 3.5%, below the statewide rate of 3.7% in June, according to the county.
OhioMeansJobs has already run one hiring event tied to the defense contractor’s site: an event for Allied, a security contractor providing guard services for Anduril’s Department of Defense work, drew 32 applicants, 17 of whom were hired, according to the report.
Separately, the agency plans a 10-day hiring event during the second week of September aimed at filling all staff positions needed for a new Marshalls store opening in the county, the report said.
Tatman also updated commissioners on Job and Family Services’ child welfare caseload, reporting 17 children currently in placement and 91 total children involved with the agency, including seven in residential placement. The agency conducted mandated-reporter training for Circleville City Schools staff on Aug. 14, according to the report.
