David Michael Stout (83) was born on July 30, 1943, in Chillicothe, Ohio, the son of the late George W. and Marjorie M. Stout. He passed away of a brief illness August 27th, 2026, after moving to Bradenton, Florida earlier this year. He was last married to his late CHS 1961 Classmate Dianna Jean (Hill) Stout who passed January 24, 2021. He is survived by his elder brother, Robert L. Stout of Chillicothe. David is also survived by his first wife, Fran Elaine Bruner, with whom he shares three surviving children: Stefany L. Clark (Ronald C Clark) of Long Beach, CA, Brian M. Stout (Sara R Stout) of Random Lake, WI and Mandy L. Anderson (Ryan Anderson) of Wake Forest, NC. and a deceased daughter, Robin Stout, is buried in Grandview Cemetery in Chillicothe.
Seventeen grandchildren include: Dalton, Emily and Sofia Clark of ID. Duncan, Elizabeth, Jillian (Bramley), Talon, Gavin, Simon, Penelope, Canon, Ryan, and Reuben Anderson of Wake Forest, NC. Brent, Sonora, Riley, Lexie (Kimball) Stout of Random Lake, WI. With eight great grandchildren.
During his school years in Chillicothe, he earned the Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout award, was honored with the Vigil Honor of Scouting's National Honorary "Order of the Arrow", and was appointed the Chief of the local Maka-Ina Lodge. He was also co-captain of the CHS football team and track teams during his 1960-61 senior year.
David attended Ohio University from 1961-65 and graduated with a BS degree. While at OU, he met and married classmate, Fran Bruner. He played in the 1962 Sun Bowl and on the 1963 MAC Championship Football Team. He was Secretary of the Varsity "O" Letterman's Club 1964-1965. He was also a member of Kappa Delta Pi Educational Honorary and a long-time member of the Ohio University Bobcat Club. He obtained an MA degree in 1966 and from 1967 to 1969, he continued his education in Computer Science at The Ohio State University where he was a staff member at the OSU Computer Center. He later completed certification in automating transportation systems at Penn State University.
During his work career, he held several information technology (IT) positions at major Corporations including; programmer, systems analyst, designer, supervisor, manager, and Director of Management Information Systems. Later, he served as a Regional Computer Audit Manager with Coopers & Lybrand Public Accountants (C&L) before their merger with Price Waterhouse. At C&L, he held positions of responsibility in the Columbus, Houston, and Dallas offices. For 10 years, he led audit and security teams to identify, assess, and test controls at several large corporate data centers and network environments. He later became Information Systems Audit Manager for McKesson Corporation in San Francisco with world-wide IT audit responsibilities.
He was a member of the Data Processing Management Association (DPMA), the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). He was a Certified Data Processing Auditor and a Certified Information Systems Auditor. He was a founding officer in the Columbus, OH ISACA Chapter and an officer in both the Houston and San Francisco Chapters. He was a frequent speaker at professional conferences at the regional, national, and international levels. He was selected as a member of a 1989 US State Department Systems Security Group that assisted the European Economic Union prepare for standardizing and certifying of controls in banking and financial application systems. He teamed with system security professionals in the former Soviet Union to construct and implement acceptable levels of computer-based controls. He made presentations at Moscow State University, the Great Hall in the Kremlin, the Vnesh Econom Bank of Development and Foreign Economic Affairs in Moscow, various banks in Russia and Minsk, BY, and the Leningrad Institute (now the St. Petersburg, RU State Institute of Technology). He gave a presentation to the European Economic Board and Council in Brussels, BL, on the importance of banking application system controls.
In 1995, David founded and managed KRIDNER-ROBBINS and Associates (KRA) – LLC, a computer security and audit consulting enterprise for the last 14 years of his career. KRA focused on identifying, auditing, testing, and strengthening controls in computer networks, financial systems, energy and banking industry systems, and Internet application systems. He also developed a textbook on "Information Security Issues – 2000 and Beyond" and presented Internet Security seminars throughout the US and Dubai, UAE.
Most of all, he loved life, thoroughly relished his work, vacationing, world-wide business travel, and helping others. He sincerely loved his late wife Dianna, who he first met in the sixth grade at Tiffin elementary school in Chillicothe. He cherished Buddy the family Silky Terrier. He is grateful to Fran for their many, beloved and accomplished children and descendants.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 25th from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory with the Funeral Service starting at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
