JACKSON, Ohio — A Cincinnati woman was injured Sunday morning after her SUV struck a semitruck while attempting an improper U-turn on U.S. Route 35 in Jackson County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported at about 11:51 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 35 and state Route 32, the patrol’s Jackson post said. A 2024 Chrysler Pacifica driven by Tenise Blackwell, 46, of Cincinnati, was traveling eastbound on U.S. 35 in the right lane when it made an improper turn in front of a 2025 Volvo semi driven by Serhii Vasylchuk, 38, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the patrol said. Vasylchuk’s semi was also traveling eastbound, in the left lane.
Blackwell was attempting to make a U-turn at the intersection when the Pacifica was struck by the semi, according to the patrol. The Pacifica came to rest on the left shoulder of U.S. 35 eastbound, while the semi came to rest in the median.
Blackwell sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated and released at the scene by Jackson County EMS, the patrol said. Vasylchuk was not injured.
The Jackson post was assisted at the scene by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson County EMS, the Jackson City Fire Department and High Road Wrecker Service. The left lane of U.S. 35 eastbound and the state Route 32 eastbound ramp to U.S. 35 westbound were closed for about two hours while crews cleared the scene, according to the patrol.
The crash remains under investigation, the patrol said.
