GREENFIELD, Ohio — Rainsboro Elementary School will dismiss students at 12:30 p.m. Monday because of a broken air conditioning system and forecasted afternoon heat, according to the Greenfield Exempted Village School District.
The early dismissal applies only to Rainsboro Elementary, the district said in a release sent to families Sunday evening. Other district buildings are expected to operate on their regular schedule.
Afternoon preschool will not be held Monday. Most students in the morning preschool session will still be able to ride the bus home, though their return will be delayed by about 45 minutes because they will share buses with elementary students, the district said. Rainsboro staff planned to contact preschool families Monday to confirm transportation arrangements.
Students will be served lunch before being dismissed, according to the district.
District officials said they will continue to make scheduling decisions daily while they wait for a replacement part to repair the air conditioning system. Parents with questions about bus transportation can call the district’s bus garage.
“We greatly apologize for the inconvenience,” the district said in the release. “We will continue to make decisions daily as we await the arrival of the part needed to repair the air conditioning. Thank you for your patience.”
