CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — Pickaway County Sheriff Matthew O. Hafey presented Deputy Corey A. Hamlin with a plaque marking his retirement Monday after nearly 32 years with the sheriff’s office, the agency said in a Facebook post.
Hamlin’s career with the sheriff’s office ran from Sept. 18, 1994, to Monday — 31 years, 11 months and 13 days, according to the plaque presented at the ceremony. Over that span, he worked in the corrections division, court services and the patrol division, and served as a school resource deputy, the sheriff’s office said.
Hafey, joined by the sheriff’s office staff, congratulated Hamlin on the milestone and wished him well in retirement, the agency said.
Hafey took office as Pickaway County sheriff in January 2021 after winning election the previous November. He spent more than 16 years at the Circleville Police Department, rising to the rank of sergeant in 2015, before retiring early from that department in 2019 to run for sheriff.
