GREENFIELD, Ohio — South Washington Street in downtown Greenfield will shut down for six hours Thursday as the village hosts its monthly First Thursday street event, according to Main Street Downtown Greenfield.
The closure is set for 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 3, stretching from South Washington Street’s intersection with Jefferson Street, near the Village Courthouse, down to Mirabeau Street, the organization said in a Facebook post. Vendors will begin setting up at 4 p.m., and the group is asking drivers to clear their vehicles from the closure area beforehand so crews can get tents and tables in place safely.
Main Street Downtown Greenfield is a nonprofit that operates under the Ohio Main Street program, a statewide initiative run by the nonprofit Heritage Ohio to support historic downtown revitalization. The organization says its mission is to strengthen Greenfield’s historic business district by drawing residents and visitors downtown, filling vacant storefronts and growing local economic activity.
First Thursday is held every month in downtown Greenfield, bringing vendors and live entertainment into the village’s business district, according to the organization.
Greenfield sits along the Highland and Ross county line and had a population of 4,339 as of the 2020 census.
